Two wrongs don't make a right

I think most rational thinking people will agree that Pastor Terry Jones made the right decision to scrap
his plan to burn the Quran at the Dove World Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida on the anniversary
of 9/11. No one can deny that he has a Constitutional right to do so; the question is – whether it is
morally right to do so?
Conversely an overwhelming majority of American’s object to the Cordoba Group’s plan to build a
Mosque at Ground Zero in New York. Again, the question isn't whether they have a right to build the
mosque – the question is whether it is morally correct to do so?
We have all heard the saying “two wrongs don’t make a right” and that is exactly the situation we are left
with here. As a Christian, I would be offended if someone burned a Bible although I know they have a
Constitutional right to do so. As a combat veteran, I am outraged when I see the American Flag burned
although I understand people have a right to do so.
Liberals are quick to tell us that we must be tolerant of opposing lifestyles and views. As Michael
Douglas says in his speech in the movie The American President, America is advanced citizenship.”
President Obama and many on the left were quick to voice their support of the Ground Zero Mosque
and even quicker to condemn the Dove World Outreach Center’s plan to burn Quran's this weekend.
What most people don’t understand is why we find it necessary to placate a religion that makes up
less than one percent of the American population?
Where was the moral outrage from the left at the beheading of Nick Berg? Where is the outrage over
the pregnant Afghan woman who recently was brutally flogged 200 times before being shot in the head
three times for allegedly having an affair? A few weeks ago, Time Magazine featured a cover story about
an Afghan woman who was enslaved and tortured, then had her nose and ears cut off by the Taliban.
With each passing week, we continue to see more and more stories about the subhuman way people
are treated in many Muslim countries and we here crickets chirping on the left.
Why is Mr. Rauf, the Imam behind the Ground Zero Mosque, advocating for Sharia Law in the United
States? More importantly, why aren't the president and women’s groups up in arms over this?
Instead liberal groups like Code Pink, which is a woman’s group, are actively funding and supporting
Islamic terrorist organizations such as Hamas and the Free Gaza Movement. I cannot believe that
liberal groups are aligning themselves with organizations that treat women like animals.
America is about freedom and many of those freedoms are cited by Islamic extremists as their
reasons for wanting to destroy America. Every other religion has found a way to assimilate itself into
our culture and Muslims need to find a way to do this as well or find another country to immigrate to.
While I disagree with what Pastor Jones is doing, you cannot have it both ways. You cannot be morally
outraged only when it is politically convenient – “two wrongs don’t make a right.”
God Bless
