Just Passing Time
These are the times that try men's souls

It has been just over two years since first lady Michelle Obama spoke these illustrious words “for the
first time in my adult life I am proud of my country.” Obviously she was privy to the systematic
destruction her husband Barack Obama was soon to unleash on America.
Over the last few weeks I have had a very uneasy feeling and with the passage of the Financial Reform
Bill, I fear that it might be too late. I fear that in eighteen short months this man has done irrevocable
damage to our country. He has nationalized banks, the auto industry, healthcare, and created a vehicle
by which the government can seize even more private assets at their whim with the passage of the
Financial Reform Bill.
In short, he’s turned us into a socialist country. When the Bush tax cuts expire at the end of this year it is
going to create a further drag on the economy by hurting small business owners who are the largest
employer in America. This will drive up unemployment even further, creating more foreclosures, and
bank failures which will allow the administration to seize even more assets because of this new
legislation.
There have been times over the last eighteen months, where, for the first time in my life I have been
ashamed of my country. It pains me to say this because I love my country. I have served my country on
the Czech border before the Berlin Wall fell. I have served my country on the battlefields of Desert
Storm. I was prepared to give my life to defend liberty and would do it again today.
I find comfort in the fact that this must be how the founders felt as they overcame the tyranny of King
George. I can only imagine the dark days they must have faced as they set forth to establish our great
nation. The trials and tribulations they faced are similar to what we face today. As Thomas Paine said
in the American Crisis, “these are the times that try men’s souls.”
Surely we are being tested and I know that we are up to the challenge but it still troubles me. How did
we let these communists, Marxists, socialists, or whatever you want to call them infiltrate every aspect
of our society? Our government has been overrun by them and now we have our first socialist president.
They essentially own the media and the education system. I don’t know how many times in college that
I had to force myself to write papers with what the professor wanted to hear so that I could get an A. I
compromised my own value system to achieve when they don’t give a damn about achievement. They
only care about indoctrination.
The liberals own Hollywood and they weave their agenda into every facet of our entertainment. It’s
gotten to where you cannot enjoy watching a movie or TV show without filtering out all the leftist
propaganda. We have networks such as MTV and Bravo that do little more that perpetuate the gay
agenda and advocate moral depravity. You can’t watch or read anything without being bombarded with
the environmentalist’s agenda.
You have willing accomplices in Hollywood such as Sean Penn and Susan Sarandon who help
promote the socialist agenda and defend dictators. Does Sean split the millions he is paid for
appearing in a movie with the rest of the cast and crew? If Hugo Chavez and Venezuela are so great
Sean, why don’t you move their? Trust me, America would be better off without you.
You have a whole generation of young people that are getting their news from Jon Stewart on Comedy
Central. The left is like a virus feeding off of those of us that produce. Once they latch on and the decay
begins and they end up perverting everything they touch. The problem with their agenda is as Margaret
Thatcher says “the problem with socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money to
spend.”
America has finally awakened from its slumber and a great part of our society has reengaged; but is it
too little too late? Obama and his willing accomplices in the media are doing their best to marginalize
us. Conservative’s know where to get their news and liberals can get their news just about anyplace
but what about the rest of America? So many I fear listen to what the talking heads say and drink the
Kool Aid without even knowing what they’re doing.
What scares me is that it is going to take a conservative with unshakable, steadfast character to undo
this mess. Who is this? Certainly not Mitt Romney; lest we forget he brought socialized medicine to
Massachusetts well before Obama brought it to the rest of the country.
If I hear John McCain's name again I think I’ll vomit. This man exemplifies what a RINO (Republican in
name only) is along with Lindsay Graham, Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins and Scott Brown. All of
whom voted for financial reform with the exception of Graham who is pushing for Amnesty for illegal's.
Since we are talking about republicans with questionable stances on policies; how about Newt
Gingrich. Again we have serious questions as Gingrich has bought into the climate change myth. Let’s
not forget that Newt made a global warming commercial with… Drum roll please… Nancy Pelosi.
Perhaps he has changed his position on this, which, according to his website he has. There is no
question that Newt is highly intelligent and was the master-mind of the Contract with America.
Personally I think he would make a great cabinet member, chief of staff, or department head but not
president.
Bobby Jindahl has certainly endeared himself in many American’s hearts with his response to the
horrific BP oil spill but does he really have the right stuff? My gut tells me no.
Mike Huckabee? Next.
Jeb Bush was a great governor in Florida but will America really elect another Bush? Maybe down the
road but not in 2012.
Ron Paul has a cult following but some of the libertarian isolationist positions he has are not good for
America.
Sarah Palin gives an amazing speech and is great at energizing the base but is she ready to be
president? I think she would be more suited to replace Michael Steele as GOP Chair.
Personally I’m not thrilled with any of the early front runners. The 2012 election is a long way off but the
early campaigning will start next year shortly after those elected in the 2010 elections take office.
We need to do everything possible in the upcoming election to put conservatives into office. It is the only
hope we have of slowing down the radical agenda that Obama and his minions are cramming down
our collective throats. We need to be ready to challenge his authority in court because he is sure to try
and further usurp Congressional authority by utilizing even more executive orders. The GOP needs to
be prepared and have a plan in place to challenge him on everything for the next two years. We need to
do everything possible to ensure that he becomes a lame duck president for his final two years in office.
As conservatives and patriots we know that the words of Lee Greenwood are as true today as they have
ever been, “that the flag still stands for freedom and they can’t take that away.” We must continue to
fight the good fight because if we stand together they cannot defeat us. The fight will not be easy but
nothing worth having ever is, and in the end, once we achieve victory, we will be able to proudly
proclaim that “I thank my lucky stars to be living here today - God bless the USA…”
See you in the trenches,
