I believe our hour has come

A few weeks ago I was feeling defeated, like my efforts to fight the policies of the administration were
for nothing. I spend a lot of time reading from liberal media sites as well as conservative sites so that I’
m hearing both sides of the story. In doing so I allowed their rhetoric to sink in and began to feel
marginalized despite God’s evidence to the contrary.

I had been spending too much time reading Alinsky and not enough time reading the Bible and
studying the Founders. If you fill your head with garbage, you will begin to feel like garbage – garbage
in, garbage out. I thought that it was important to learn how the opposition thinks and wasn't counter
balancing that with anything uplifting.

I was ignoring the fact that with every passing month that my website was setting new records for
visitors. I spent too much time answering hate mail because it is rare to receive fan mail.

The week of August 15th I was finally able to attend the meetings of some of the Republican clubs I
belong to. It was great to see friends again since I haven’t been able to attend anything since April,
when I had back surgery. I also found out what I was doing was making a difference; people were
coming up to me and telling me how much they enjoy my writing and my website.

Then on August 28th I watched Glenn Beck’s “Restoring Honor” rally and realized that I am not alone
and that there are millions of other people actively engaged in this fight with me. Glenn’s rally wasn't
political, it was spiritual. It was one of the most powerful and uplifting events that I have ever watched,
so powerful that I watched it a second time on Sunday and felt a renewed sense of spirit.

The next week I was invited to an event at the Texas A&M, Galveston campus. A group of students were
trying to put together a Young Republican’s Club on campus and since I have experience with this, I
was happy to lend my assistance. In just a couple of hours, more than a hundred students joined the
club. Talk a bout a powerful experience. I couldn't believe how many young men and women were
ready to get involved and help change the direction of this country especially since this is such a small
campus. To put this in perspective, this campus is a very small satellite that is entirely focused on
maritime studies, and only has about 1,800 students.

I had been praying to God to renew my spirit so that I could continue to make a difference with the
elections only two months away. In a few short weeks, He provided so many examples that what we
are doing is making a difference that I couldn't help but be uplifted and feel a renewed sense of
strength.

To cap it all off, I stumbled upon this passage by John Adams as our founders struggled to pass the
Declaration: “Before God, I believe our hour has come. My judgment approves this measure, and my
whole heart is in it. All that I have, all that I am, and all that I hope in this life, I am now ready to here
stake upon it. And I leave off as I began, that live or die, survive or perish, I am for the Declaration. It is
my living sentiment, and by the blessing of God it shall be my dying sentiment, Independence now, and
Independence for ever.”

So for the next two months, I shall pour my whole heart into these elections so that we can accomplish
the first of two very important goals: First is to take both houses of Congress back so that we can limit
any further damage that may be caused by this president. The second is to take back the White House
in 2012 and to do that we will need to keep America engaged.

One thing at a time…
